The "Nalaga'at" non-profit organization was established in 2002, intended for a theater group whose actors are all deaf-blind. At the core of the deaf-blind theater ensemble project, is a constant search for a unique "theatrical language" for the group, as well as the wish to take action toward increasing awareness of deaf-blind persons' needs, in Israel and the rest of the world.

Following the success of the theater group’s first performance: "Light is Heard in Zigzag", the organization established a unique cultural center, at the Jaffa Port in Tel Aviv . The “Nalaga’at” Center, which opened in December 2007, seeks to promote the needs and aspirations of deaf, blind and deaf-blind individuals and facilitate their full integration in society as contributing individuals.

The "Nalaga'at" Center creates and will continue to create workplaces for the deaf, blind and deaf-blind, and allows its employees to make a living while expressing themselves artistically. The "Nalaga'at" Center is a place where deaf, blind, deaf-blind, hearing and seeing people, work together and share the belief that through an active stand and a constant search for new means of communication - they can and must change reality. "Nalaga'at" brings deaf, blind and deaf-blind people together with hearing and seeing people from Israel and throughout the world on a cultural and artistic basis, through a unique experience.

"Nalaga'at" believes that all human beings are equal yet different, and that all have the right to take upon themselves the obligation to contribute to society, each one in his own way and ability through aspiration to professionalism and excellence.

"Nalaga'at" Centre will serve as a national and international learning centre, and as a role model for the integration of handicapped people in society as equal citizen in rights and duties through the creation of appropriate platform and stage. Considering the empowering force and the 'healing' energy of the place, "Nalaga'at" Center aspires to extend its goals to developing various types of rehabilitation programs, in the future.

For we can and must change the reality we live in.
